Danga Bhasa & Chadakhai 2024

OSCAN celebrates Odisha’s rich maritime heritage with colourful miniature boats in the Netherlands with a grand success for 7th time in a row . The ritual is a tribute to the brave sailors and merchants who ventured across vast oceans, trading goods with places like Java, Bali, and Sumatra, cementing Odisha’s role as a major maritime power in ancient times.

About the event

DANGA BHASA known as Boita Bandana , It’s a day that reminds each Odia of our deep rooted history of maritime glory long a go how our ancestors sail to various part of the world, particularly Asian continent in search of new livelihoods, settlements, trade to distant lands like Java, Sumatra, Bali, and Indonesia, Malaysia for trade using huge boats (Boita). As part of this, the festival promotes a sense of unity, pride, and nostalgia, as people remember their maritime ancestors and the role Odisha played in connecting civilizations.

This year OSCAN celebrated the famous Boita Bandana (Danga Bhasa) along with Chadakhai in the Hoofddorp , Netherlands.

 

Mr. Manesh Magar delegates from Embassy of India , serving as the Chief Guest, inaugurated cultural programs,  followed by other guests.  The cultural event included Bhajans, Odissi, and Mesmerizing performances by young and talented participants. Painting and traditional dress competitions added to the festivity.

 

The Chadakhai feast included delicious Odia foods like ,Jeera Rice, Roti, Mutton Curry, Butter Chicken , Kadai Paneer, Chole Masala, Kheer , Salad etc.

 

Active cooperation and logistical support from prime institutions like Cell Technologies, Nobel Mortgages, Etia Consulting , BCS, AAONXT, Geeksoft Consulting, Prilk Consulting, Dr Kure, and Innoveren IT were crucial to the event’s success.
