The Odia Socio-Cultural Association of Netherlands (OSCAN) celebrated the 8th edition of Danga Bhasa & Chadakhai – 2025 with great enthusiasm and pride on 9th November 2025 in the city of Amstelveen in Netherlands. The event brought together the Odia and broader Indian community from across the Netherlands for a vibrant celebration of Odisha’s rich maritime heritage and cultural traditions.
The venue was beautifully decorated transforming it into a mesmerizing “Mini Odisha” for the day.The celebration began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp near the idol of Lord Jagannath. The event was graced by esteemed guests including Mr. Krish Gupta, Director of Gadhi Center, Embassy of india and Nupur Kohli an eminent doctor and candidate of one of the leading Netherlands political party, and other dignitaries and friends of OSCAN. They appreciated OSCAN’s continued efforts in promoting the culture and heritage of Odisha abroad and commended the community for staying connected to its roots.
The program featured a series of cultural performances, including Odissi dance, Boita-making competitions among different cities, and a traditional Chadakhai feast with mouthwatering delicacies .
One of the major announcements of the evening was OSCAN’s long-term initiative to establish a Jagannath Temple in the Netherlands. This ambitious project aims to create a spiritual and cultural hub for Odias and devotees of Lord Jagannath across Europe. Discussions are already underway with key stakeholders, including the Gajapati Maharaja of Puri and members of the Indian Embassy, marking the beginning of a historic journey that will take shape over the coming years.
